Switch to Dedicated Hosting

August 28, 2008

Bloggers have ballooned into more progressive media and even moved into hosting with a personal domain. Starters normally go for free web hosting. My personal blog for example Life’s Simple Pleasures is hosted in a free web hosting through i.ph. The common way to go for is to host blogs on free hostings, but as the need grows there are things that I need to do or add on my blog which I could not do with the free hosting service. Thus, I have also created another blog like dviewfinder.com or aileentguirnela.com on a paid hosting.

Paid hosting sites allow me to do more things compared to a free hosted site. I could change the themes and could add more plugins for my blog. I have my own domain in this case. Shared hosting could be good as an alternative to free hosting, but as the name implies this hosting is shared with other countless users. It’s like an apartment room shared with other people and when one makes trouble all of you suffers. This is the same with a shared hosting you share the responsibility of the consequences of each ones action. The resources of the hosting is divided among you.

Serious blogs need some dedicated hosting for it to grow. The site owner is solely responsible for the whole blog. If you are responsible enough in your web hosting usage then you’ll get by without any problem. You don’t share the resources with other user’s which you don’t have control in their actions. When the visitors of your blog site has already a big following then dedicated hosting would be better. When you have around 500 visitors per day or more and you have a stream of paid advertisements on your blog then dedicated hosting is advisable. You can fully customize the themes, plugins and other web applications you like to add. You are fully in control of your whole blog site.

Lounging with Watermark

August 21, 2008

My task of converting all MS Word Notes into Powerpoint Presentation appeared to be monotonous the entire day.  Before I left my nook I lounged into some good old songs that I have on my playlist.  One of which is Gloria by Watermark.  My collection of Modern Worship songs are back to my senses. I’m reviewing it one by one to get familiar with the lyrics and sings it with passion. hahahaha… ala concert. This type of music relaxes me. Come on, let’s sing it!

Possible Way of Knowing Blog or Site Visitors

Do you have any idea that it’s possible to track down visitors in your webpage or weblog? Blogs and websites are similar to having cyber home.  People come and go, normally termed as blog hopping or site hopping.  Others leave some comments to let you know they’ve been there or their way of showing appreciation.  But others prefer to be anonymous.  As to whether they like it or not, you as the site owner have alot of ways to monitor your site’s activity.  It is comparably having like a surveilance camera watching who’s in, where did they come from, what page they read, how long did they stayed in your site and what topic caught their attention.

Free Webmaster Tool is a simple HTML code snippets to power Web site or blog with IP2Location information immediately.  This software is possible to track visitors. As part of the information it could collect from the IP Address of the visitor and it will give the topic which they tried to search on the web. You can use this information to increase viewership by posting similar topics related to the ones that have the higher  percentage of visits or avoid receiving spams by blocking certain IPs.

Now you know that  you are capable of doing it.  It’s time to visit www.ip2location.com.  Get a short virtual tour on the newly launch DB15-DB18 packages which consist of the IDD code, area code, weather station name and weather station code and watch their free demo at http://www.ip2location.com/demo.aspx.  I’m sure the free Webmaster Tools at the demo page is very informative to everybody.  Keep tracking!

Trendy Whistles

August 20, 2008

Last Sunday me and hubby where able to hitch on our way home to AIT with our friends.  It was an unusual route for us as we made a detour in Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani before heading straight home.  We found out that it’s the last day of special sale that started since August 8, 2008.  We made no plans of shopping but the sight of rarely discounted items were 50% to 80% less than the original price.  Oh well, me and hubby didn’t hesitate to splurge some extra cash for items that we would need to share this Christmas.

On our way out of the Challenger building we saw this weird looking guy with long beard and dressed in ethnic attire.  That caught my attention then later it was diverted to the crowd right behind him.  I thought those black wooden like amulets hanging on the wall were just toys.  Only to find out they were awesome pieces of handcrafted whistles.  They came in different shapes and designs like stars, turtles, buffalo’s head, bird and more.  These trendy whistles will serve its purpose on the New Year’s eve.

Identify Brand Problems

August 19, 2008

Brand names stands out for fashion conscious individuals. Some typos for branding would include having a unique name, product related label or something cool and catchy.  As a wise shopper myself I am particular in buying branded items on sale as they last longer than unonymous products. Brands could also be associated to the quality of a product.  It either speaks of low or high quality products.

In the recent years, internet has become a vital role in promoting the brand names online.  It is said that if your company or product is not listed on the net, then forget about it.  It will likely have a lesser chance to grow and last long in terms of global economy.

Internet genuises have identified the brand problems for everybody to learn from.  One of which is to optimize your site and get good result on search engines. To do so you need to seek for an Advertising Agency that specializes on brand identity problems

My friend ones asked me to build a website for her products that she wants to display online.  Now that she have made her own using Yahoo, she’s quite worried whether she did the right thing or not. Until now, you cannot find it on the first five pages in Google web.  Then I advised her to optimize the site by placing plugins that will enable the search engine to crawl inside and bookmark it on the web.

Workshop Days

August 15, 2008

My dviewfinder site assignments are currently on hold. There are lots of activities happening these days.  First would be juggling office tasks between two weeks course training. I don’t feel OC this time as I’m not the main person in-charge to administer.  It’s only a pity to see my colleague in pressure. The remaining seven days will be more exciting for them, so do are my schedules.

For the last three years the sea had been out of sight and that’s where we are going tomorrow.  Looking forward to feast on seafoods, specially my favorite crab curry.

Forum with No Names

August 14, 2008

Speaking out what is in your mind without being recognized is now possible.  With existing forum that doesn’t requires your real name to be posted, you don’t feel coward about what you think should be paid attention to.  This simple act is totally similar to being anonymous in a sense that you Post without Joining. Everybody’s opinion are most welcome in mindsunite.com.

Does this forum really work? Well there are normally main categories on the sidebar.  You pick one topic that interests you.  Next choose the category, under which you click a question that struck you. Then start typing your opinion about the issue with no hassle of signing up a membership form.

All for Moms

August 12, 2008

brownies

Mama (my mother-in-law) celebrated her 63rd b-day yesterday with family and friends back home. As for our part, I made this Cashew Brownies to add something special on our usual dinner.

Today, Thailand is celebrating Mother’s Day in honor of the Queen who’s also celebrating her birthday every August 12 of the year. Earlier the cleaners woke us up from our sleeping spree.  I normally prefer to rest during holidays rather than going somewhere else.  I then took out the dessert and gave some to my neighbor and the cleaners.

Category: Dessert
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes

Ingredients: (I’ll be listing the ingredients here just you know what it is made of)

dark chocolate (I combined Ritter Sport & Hersheys)
butter
caster sugar
vanilla
eggs
plain flour
cocoa powder
baking powder
roughly chopped cashews

Laswa

August 9, 2008

laswa

Laswa is a famous bland vegetable soup for Ilonggos in Negros Occidental. In other parts of the Philippines they call it law-oy or others they say it’s bulanglang. Luckily there are similar vegetables here in Thailand.  So missing laswa is only a matter of overcoming my laziness in cooking.

It’s hard to list the ingredients as I only know the local names of some.  Bear with me.

Ingredients:

Pumpkin Okra
Alugbati
 Patola

Dried Mushroom
 Water
Salt

Optional ingredients:
shrimp or hibe
tugabang (slimy leaf)
eggplant
amargoso (bitter gourd)
string beans

Procedure:
Boil dried mushroom for 5 mins.  Drain then cut into strips.  Bring to boil 2 cups of water.  Place vegetables on intervals of 2 to 3 minutes starting from the hardest to the easiest to cook.

Laugh Till You Drop with Moymoy Palaboy

August 6, 2008

If you’re having a bad day.  Call it quits and watch moymoy palaboy in Youtube.

Filipinos are known to be happy people and these two guys have proven what it means to be a pinoy.  The tandem of Roadfill and Moymoy  charges me with good mood each time I watch their videos.  Their antics never fail to amaze me.  You’ll surely miss one half of your life if you don’t watch them. =)

Some suggestions — Volare, No One, Marimar, Order Taker, Dancing Queen, Bartender are few of my favorite vids from them. A complete Bubble Gang episodes of moymoy are uploaded by DCRPinoyBiscuitsCH.

Fancy Meeting You

You may have noticed a few days ago that my fad was into shoes. Now it has something to do with Fancy Dress. This may not be for long but this DOTA game on Warcraft is occupying my imagination. Meeting new characters with fancy attires and strange powers have become thrilling for first time players.

Aside from this, some cafes are adapting with this type of fashion like in Japan were waitresses are dressed attractively like this girl on the left to catch the attention of the customers. I’ll be strolling Bangkok one of these days to find shops which may have similar themes of DOTA warriors.
