Khao Mao- Isaan Dessert

Featuring a North Eastern (Isaan) Thai cuisine. I was giddy when I saw it first last month. Hubby was giving me that "weird food look" again as I approached the saleslady to ask for the price. Per pack it was sold for 20 baht only.  Khao Mao is a young rice pounded until the bran slips off.  The flattened green kernels tastes sweet with a fragrant smell and tender texture.  Mixed with white sugar, fresh coconut meat and salt to taste. Khao Mao is just an example of the culinary ingenuity of Isaan people.  Displaying what Thai people has best to offer.

Freshly cooked Khao Mao is the one on the top-left photo.  The rest are the old ones that has been turned into a pop rice, seasoned with sesame seeds and nuts.

Reference Web Presentations on CD or DVD

My work in GDS (Gender Development Studies) division of the School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) tends to be pretty hectic during workshop seminars. Like workshops on Gender Equality which needs participants coming from different countries or agencies. This calls for 3 months preparation on our part. 

There are times when it’s required to have a website presentation coming from a reference organization. Depending on the function room used to access to the Internet via WiFi or LAN is not guaranteed. Sometimes the connectivity is very slow or the cost of internet connection is very expensive.

I was hoping something like making a copy website of the reference sites for presentation on a CD or DVD. Just a few clicks and it can download the site including the videos and photos which we need most. It even supports continuing or resumption of downloads when there are Internet connectivity problems.

This will definitely make my life easier in times of making reference websites available on workshops.

I've been constantly chatting with one of my dear friend Aruba (not her real name) in the Philippines who is still single at the age of 31.  She worries too much about her future but doesn't even finds time to accommodate her suitors at home for fear of being ridiculed by her family.  On the other hand, she spends most of her time chatting with friends on the Internet until late nights. 

I'm beginning to think of suggesting either the Matchmaking or Christian Personals Sites for her. I have known people here in Bangkok to have met their partners through online dating site.  Their primary source of communication is also chatting.  Either by voice chat or voice and video chat. Chatting is very much addicting specially when you're engrossed with your chat mate's wit and humor. I used to be one, I remember it was year 1999 when I got addicted to this mIRC thingy, skipping dinner and hangout with fellow chatters at PAJ computer center below my dormitory.  Now I just smile at the thought of it.  

Incidentally, me and hubby also got acquainted first on the net!  It was by grace that we were able to meet face to face in a common friend's shop. That was the start of a lasting friendship and techie love story for both of us. 

Weight Watching on Wednesdays

For today's health blog:

1. I ate whole wheat bread with hotdog filling and water for breakfast.
2. Tuna, rice and apple juice for lunch.
3. Corn kernels with sugar, margarine and a pinch of salt for snack.
4. I had a total of 30 minutes cycling inside the campus from morning till afternoon.
5. One hour dancing during the body jam class.
6. Forty five counts of abdominal crunch in weights of 15 kilos.
7. Ten minutes walking on the treadmill at speed of 3.5 to 4.0 kph.
8. Ate Aloo Parata, Cheese Tofu curry, chicken Tanduri  and cantaloupe shake for dinner.
9. Walking for 10 minutes from snack bar to home.

It has been a rough day =)
