Getting Away With Minor Driving Offense

Every now and then I have been plying all along the expressway of Thailand. I have observed that there is a spot where there is a sign about speed and a speed camera next to it. Sometimes a policeman on a big motorcycle is standing by the spot. Cars are allowed to run like 120 Kph, but I have observed some even go as high as 160 Kph. Though a number of these fast moving cars are caught at the expressway toll both where more policeman are on duty. Driving like crazy on the expressway is really dangerous especially at speeds over the limit.

In United Kingdom (UK), I have heard that there are driving secrets to do away with being penalized or charged of driving offense. There is even a book published entitled "UK-Driving-Secrets". This I think is for those who are constantly caught. The craziest ideas on how to evade being charged and put to prison. The best of all is even win a court decision to your favor. It's really a marvel to think that everything is done taking advantage of the loop holes in the system.

Safe and sound driving is more important. If you can stick with it the roads will be safer for everyone.

Hackers All Around the Internet

Have you seen the movie called "The Net"? It gives me some creeps to think about. That means everyone even computer experts could be a victim of stolen identity or computer espionage. This could really be a messy one as it turns one's beautiful life into a nightmare. Imagine records are erased from existence and given a new identity, which have a police record. Anyway the hero finally comes out victorious. I think this is a far-fetched idea of what Internet technology is all about. I am not really sure if this could possibly happen, but on some degree hackers are all-over the net.

Hackers prey on their target starting with what they call Internet Protocol (IP) address. Everything then follows. I think surfing the net and doing transaction online is quite dangerous unless some precautions are taken. Steps involved like installing some programs that hide IP address to prevent divulging vital information to the attacker to launch an attack.

I actually do online transaction, but using my home PC. Firewall installed, spyware and ad-aware detectors, and many more for the hacker to play around. It will just give me a little peace of mind surfing with all of those turned on.

Caroling Memorabilia

I tried documenting our caroling last December 2007.  Earlier I resized a total of 400 photos taken through my realible D40X. I was actually having a sideline while my friends were busy socializing.  I was acting like paparazzi taking photos of objects and food that intrigued me.

After resizing all the photos, I made a collage using Adobe Photoshop. Now I'm starting to compile it by creating a slideshow using Windows Movie Maker.

Help in Recovering Document Lost Password

Keeping safe important documents is one of those task that I do at the office. Filing them on important folders. Sometimes there are cases when documents are needed urgently and the unimaginable happens. What?@#$%^&*? The password is not accepted? I could not believe it! How could I forget the password? It's not just possible.

Someone might have hacked the file and changed the password? Speaking of hacking it sounds out right illegal, but if you own the file why not? I think it's totally legal to hack your own file or else that means I could not retrieve those important information again. In this case I need some Excel password recovery to open up a password protected Financial budget spreadsheet file. I am really glad that there are software like Password-Studio to unlock those lost office document password files.

I might not need it if I have a photographic memory. Remembering different passwords for each file is really difficult. Just put a password forget them, and hack them again later.

B and B

Biz and Buzz??? nope.  Today's vocabulary, B and B stands for Butterscotch and Biscotcho which my officemate gave me this morning. She just came from the Philippines the other day.  B and B are actually the famous delicacy from Iloilo.  I use to visit that place before when I was still having my chorizo business way back 1998 to 1999. Hayyy, I suddenly miss home again. 

Get the Best Health Policy

In Thailand, hospitalization is not really that expensive compared to the Philippines.  I'll take Thammasat Hospital or Chulalongkorn Hospital for example.  The government hospitals here have better facilities and rooms to accommodate patients. Locals normally present their Thai Identification Cards to claim for their medical benefits as visible in the price difference. In the Philippines discounts can only be generated with the use of medicare or Philhealth. 

In comparison to medical education, I guess Philippines is more widely recognized than Thai physicians.  But our locals have less priority caused by poor economy.  It's a sad reality that if you're poor and without money.  You will surely die easily.

Other than that, Thai citizens and non-immigrants are allowed to apply for private health insurance like BUPA and AIA for bigger benefits.  People who have stable job and living on a high end lifestyles are the ones that can afford to take this health plans.  It is best to compare plans and ask for quotes from different health insurance company as a precaution.  In this way you will know what policy suites you best.  Do take it while you're still healthy so you can enjoy the benefits of it when you needed it most. Hence, you won't also be allowed to apply for one if you're not physically fit upon application.

I've read in one column earlier about a special health insurance called the AARP Health Care Options Program, which helps consumers with research. AARP Health Care Options has competently compiled a catalog of organizations they deem to be most suitable for individuals falling in the 50 and over age bracket.  AARP is a nonprofit organization for people with age over 50. They are dedicated to enhance a better quality of life and positive social change for its members.

Health is a lifetime endeavor.  It should not be taken for granted as it determines how we value love, life and the people who are close to us. 

Morning Bliss

I came out of the room this morning and tried to peek at my window.  It was foggy outside at 8 AM.  I thought of taking some pictures but I was too lazy to change my clothes to go out.  So I decided to do the chores instead before the khuns (term used for the cleaners in AIT) arrive to clean up our unit.  Every Tuesdays the cleaners visits our apartment to change the beddings, sweep the floor, collect the garbage, clean the sink and the bathroom.  These khuns are my angels.
