Instead of the usual homepage greeting me, I now have my google redesigned to a more groovy one. I use it as my default page for Mozilla Firefox Browser. See my new Google Search Engine page below with the photo of my idol Angelina Jolie on it.
I was able to Personalize Google through Groovle. Groovle is actually an amalgamation of the words Groovy and Google. This aims to customize homepages with images from celebrities, sports, nature and even your own personal or family photo. This plugin gives more life to your customary dull page. It gives two choices for the user either use the default images or create your own by uploading your photos online. The additional photos may not be useful to the search results but somehow it adds a little inspiration to see my idol on the screen.
Most of the time I use Google to search for relevant journal articles, research about photography, find lyrics, look for the latest price of items, airfares, movie reviews and more. If you haven’t Googled yet, then it is time for you to find the answers to all your questions. I compared it to other search engines and noticed that I received better results in Google. This only explains why it’s the top search engine eversince it started.
Well well well. So what did I have yesterday? Please read on. I’m posting it fast so I won’t forget the details. It is easier to create blog when the ideas are still fresh but when it lapsed for 2-3 days, I don’t feel like recording it anymore.
1. For breakfast - banana and yoghurt.
2. For lunch- I had eggs for main menu (both scrambled and boiled eggs), Moo Det Diaw (dried and fried pork), rice and orange for dessert.
3. Whole corn with margarine for snack.
4. Joined body jam for an hour.
5. Only 20 abdominal crunch this time.
6. Walking and biking for 40 minutes.
7. For dinner- salted dried beef, fish fillet and rice.
8. For fluids only water intake.
So I could end up using it in times of emergency or not using at all. The latter explains one’s attitude toward inevitable situation in life which normally is useful to take precautions rather then being left without any choice at all.
But others I suppose would disagree with this idea that I’m trying to drive at. In a way other people perceive material things as fragile, or needs to be preserved and reserved only for special occassions. Just like special gift items during wedding, birthdays or anniversaries. I remember a forwarded email which goes like this….
"A man recently suffered a great loss - his wife had passed away. While going through her belongings, he discovers the lingerie that he bought for her, lying in her drawer untouched. He picks it up and strokes it lovingly. He tells you that she never wore it, claiming that it was too good to use and she was saving it for a special occasion. He puts it down and then picks up a beautiful perfume bottle, still filled to the brim. It was her favourite perfume, he says. But again, it was untouched. And again, for the same reason - she was saving it for a special occasion."
It feels frustrating to read the story isn’t it? Reality bites!
A short definition from Answers.com- " A riddim is a rhythm pattern consisting basically of a drum pattern and a prominent bassline. This Patois or Jamaican-English term originates from the English word "rhythm." Riddims are the instrumental backgrounds of reggae, lovers rock, dub, raggamuffin and dancehall compositions."
Just sharing a new vocabulary word I learned today. In fact I was looking for some reggae tunes to escape bordome from my old compilation of music in my playlist. I reckon my classmate in college Andrei who eventually became a reggae singer of the famous local band in Bacolod called Wicked Tarsier. Watching him live onstage, in Bar 21 which was a long time ago, was truly awesome. That is when my fondness for reggae music developed.
Now I’m browsing this Versionist website which houses original mp3 reggae songs from around the world. Versionist.com allows listeners to play the songs (Ragga, hip-hop, experimental, ska, roots, dub, vocals) or videos instantly. Many of our new generation of singers like Bisrock (Bisaya Rock music in the Philippines) are adapting riddims. They seem to handle it quite well.
The latest Bisrock I got hold is entitled Nasud Ko (My Country). The entirety of the album delivers a well balanced message for environmental and political awareness to the youth through the use of local language. Do grab a copy of this nice album.
Cooking is probably one of the few talents I’m sure I can be proud of. Ask me to cook whole day but never dishwashing. Although that’s the least I could manage at home. With no one to designate to, except myself. Lest I pay somebody to do the simple task for me or buy a dishwasher which obviously is the least of our priority since there’s just the two of us at home. This quick-fix-solution kitchen appliance would do best in an ulimate busy household with five to six members in the family.
I made a little canvass on the dishwasher rating according to brand and capacity. Found out that Bosch and GE are the superior quality brands which have quite a number to choose from with price rates ranging from as low as $370 (equivalent to 11,500 Baht) up to $2,000 (around 62,000 Baht). Tough figures isn’t it? Well this is just enough to encourage me to do good on my chores. Or else, spend this much for my laziness.
My phone rang as early as 8:30. Surprised to see the name that flashes on the screen.
Me- Oh no! It’s my boss. I haven’t taken a bath yet!
I stared at it thinking, if I should answer or not, quite frantic about the situation. For sure I’ll get busted if I don’t respond immediately.
Me -Good Morning boss, may I help you?
She- Hi A, where are you now?
Me- Uhm, I’m on the way boss.
She- Okay, I’d better see you in my office then.
Whew! That was close. I dashed to the bathroom and had an express shower. How fast? Exactly a minute! Pulled a shirt and pants that doesn’t need ironing. Comb my hair, grabbed my tote bag and off I go with my two wheeled BM(W?) nope BMX straight to the office.
With lots of assignments, I almost forgot my schedule for my last HBV (Hepa B Vaccine) shot. Good thing I got reminded when I accidentally glanced at the calendar on my sidebar. So now I’m totally ready to see another specialist next month.
More than five months have passed since the kids closest to my heart, my niece and nephews, had left to be in a new environment. Everytime I see the playground equipment it reminds me of them as it was their usual hangout every afternoon. They always look funny after their romp from the playground with other kids from the AIT community school.
They love to play in the sand, making sand castles while imagining they were in the beach. It has slides and all sorts of swing sets like tire swing in the area. It was always a messy situation for the nanny but what is important is that they enjoy the outdoor activities more than watching TVs or playing play station and computers. Now it may not be that much since they are in a colder continent. The sand were turned into snow. Kids just love action.
Back to my weekly health blog. Yesterday’s jam was great. Our teacher was extremely energetic and a master of simplification. I hope to attend his session again on Saturday.
1. A terrific chocolate oatmeal porridge for my breakfast prepared T.
2. Grab a packed lunch from Jambi Mart. Consisting of rice, moo det diaw (yummy dried & fried pork) and boiled egg.
3. One slice of chocolate cake for snack.
4. Biking for 30 minutes around the campus.
5. Had a sweaty exercise for an hour in body jam class. I discovered that wearing a sweater really helps a lot during workout. While I was trying hard to follow the steps of "Don’t stop the music". Pinawisan ako ng maraming singot. Grabe. LOL!
6. Ate Nam Neung (rolls of fresh coriander, lettuce, carrots and other unfamiliar vegies with sauted pork) for dinner.
7. For fluids I had water and apple juice.
Oh Rihanna, my Rihanna! A really awesome singer! I must say. Kinda suffering from LSS (last song syndrome) all day after listening to her "Don’t Stop the Music" remix album. And the utterly sexy Umbrella song of hers. Tonight I’ll religiously memorize the dance steps on our body jam class, if possible, so I could hopefully recreate my own moves on these two trigger happy music.
A short notice was extended to both me and hubby yesterday. We were invited to gaze a birthday celebration of our friend MA. There were only a few of us when the foodfest started. Surprisingly 20-25 people were able to fit at the peek of the party hour, in a bachelors pad unit of MA. Imagine that! As expected, it was a non-stop high jinks and laughter for everybody.
Earlier that day, the host and the closest to her prepared all the quintessentials for the party. Most of the foods were done by Cel who eventually gained the rightful address of punong tagapag-abala (i’ll make it more decent in english -excellent organizer). Ugh! such deep Tagalog word.
Initially, they prepared a variety of dishes and desserts good for like double the guests could manage to finish. If this was done in the park most probably there will be barbeques over charcoal grill again. Often along with merry making over San Mig light. The thing is, nobody likes to stay up late on a Monday night.
Summer heat is back as early as January here in Thailand. A good news to backpackers, divers and island hoppers who are waiting for this time of the year. With sound adventure one can only wish for a longer vacation and less distraction.
I remember my youth in the Philippines were always on an ultimate tan every summer time. I used to go with my friends in a nearby island called Punta Buri. Normally it takes an hour and a half travel to cross the open sea on a bangka (sailboat). It’s best to go there during the month of May with clear blue skies and calm waters. A breathtaking sight of the island welcomes us as we approach to dock. I had so much fun and lasting memory of that place. Wishing to be back there sometime to have a reunion.

There are a number of activities to occupy me on a Saturday morning. It could be laundry, swimming, walking, biking, tennis, photo hunting, baking and blogging. Earlier, me, T and our friend B went to the park to share a few readings from interesting books over chocolate flavored oatmeal porridge I prepared.

A new job to take on as system administrator. T is busy now a days learning about managing systems and computer network. Network security management is one of the important things on the list. There are only two certified operating system allowed for servers that is Red Hat Enterprise Linux and CentOS.
I was wondering if his job would be much easier implementing some web-based next-generation remote management solutions like Uplogix. Anyway, I don’t really know much how is everything done, but for me a browser screen is much better than the cryptic text lines of command. Maybe the future will all bring about more graphic user interface to system and network administration area.
A week without eating curry feels unusually blunt. Since when the big cafeteria got closed for renovation, me and hubby were left with few meal options within the campus. Surprisingly my taste buds got accustomed to Indian curries in no less than a month of eating in Snack Bar. It’s actually the nearest place to rush considering the distance of the food shop to our home and office. Moreover, the taste is not that pungent and never have I experienced any stomach upset. So that means I can already migrate to India? LOL.
Right after work we echoed the same place to go to have our dinner. I ordered a small bowl of Chicken Curry, 2 Chapati, 2 Naan, and Chicken Tanduri for both of us. Good enough to share it over a little chitchat for what had transpired during the day.
Call me fickle minded, well that's how women will always be. Congratulate me for A DAY record of using that new header. It was quite a try. The artsy me simply opposes my own idea. It somehow contradicts the theme's dominant color.I know, forget about reggae this time. It might come back soon, depending on my mood.

For my Weight Watching on Wednesdays 2nd entry. Just a couple of updates for my health blog this week.
1. Ate whole wheat crackers and water for breakfast.
2. Biking for 30 minutes within the campus.
3. Had rice, chicken with garlic and seaweed-tofu soup for lunch.
4. Joined the body jam class for an hour of dancing that generated few sweats.
5. I did 35 abdominal crunch good enough to tame my bulging belly.
6. Able to loose 40 calories on 11 minutes treadmill exercise.
7. Whole wheat crackers again for snacks.
8. For dinner I ordered Thai southern food. I ate yellow rice, chicken curry and water.
It wasn't that much for yesterday.
As what I’ve mentioned from an earlier post, the success of a business highly depends on how much time you devoted on marketing than on development. I'm kinda hesitant to change my 3 column format but I have to. Listening to No Woman No Cry inspired me to create this reggae header. Such intense blending of colors reverberates the approaching summer heat here in Thailand. The silhouette of course are no other than yours truly and my adventurous partner. It's rasta time!
My eyes are a little bit strange this week. I can feel some irregular movements maybe the nerves on my eyelids and occasional swelling sensation. Hubby says I should seek eyecare advice from an optalmologist. Though I'm too afraid if they'll recommend me to wear eyeglasses. Imagining that nerdy nerd look it would create in me. I had a Great Discovry:$ 8 Prescription Glasses From Zenni Optical. Look at that stylish prescription glasses. Isn't it sexy? Ah,somebody stop me. Apart of me says 'yes' and apart says 'I might regret it'.
I'm still holding my hopes that it won't happen. Maybe I just have to limit my late hours blogging only until 12 midnight.
Ewww! That doesn't sounds good to hear PR 4 turned into PR 0 isn't it. Well that has just happened to this site. With few analysis and with hubby's advice, my new template contributed alot to its downgrade. Perhaps this may take some time to rebuild my ranking again. Anyhow, all I need is to follow the rules. Texts should be identified separately with the links. With my three column template on calliope designs, the texts and the links shares an identical <black> color, and another offense for similar title on my weekly meme Thankful Thursday have resulted to search engine death penalty. Geeess, who would ever thought that.
Stay tune for new updates. =)
A new assignment has been given to me by my boss. She sent a familiar file but with a little teaser on opening it. Had I not asked her, I wouldn’t have known that the file was made from Endnote X1 version. That solves the mystery. Anyhow, I tried downloading the trial versions on the net but to no avail. So I decided to go to Zeer Rangsit to look for the latest Endnote software.

Shall the countdown begin? 30 days more to go and it shall be Valentines Day! February is often referred to as the month of love with red and pink as the official colors for lovers and black for the loveless. In school before, where I was teaching, children offers red flowers, heart stickers, heart chocolates or heart candies to the teachers.

Yesterday was a very memorable day for me. I’m blessed to personally meet one of the sought after female multiply blogger Jeneen aka Neneerish. Ecstatic to see the first ever buddy among other distant buddies which I dreamt of hugging and talking till the night is over.
Neen with two of her family members and me with T went to see the Thai Cultural Show at Siam Niramit. A must see spectacle that me and hubby never gets tired of watching all over again. Seeing it took me to heights of imagination, half-way experiencing the picturesque depiction of Thai history through wonderful actors and actresses on different striking era.

I love it when nature entraps me,
cloaked by misty tales of a foggy Saturday sheath.
In awe of the bewitching tree,
that touches life underneath.

This was the sight of AIT earlier this morning. We had our prayer walk at the park and a little singing and reading of the Purpose Driven Life. I was able to take a photo right after a snake fell off from the tree.
A computer without a printer is sort of a cash register without receipt. It’s hard to imagine the present world without printers as it constitutes to the evidences of our labor. It enables the students to submit their assignment artistically, offices to finish their reports easily, transactions be done urgently and many more.
The first printer I got hold was an HP Inkjet printer. A very reliable tool for desktop publishing. I was then a lay-out artist for a small company in the Philippines. I love that work so much since it pushes me to be more creative. As I remember I had created countless designs for (wedding, baptism, birthday) invitations, calling cards, company logos, sticker names, receipts, certificates, etc. Since then I was only using original computer printer ink for colored and black&white so as to maintain the genuine radiant colors. My employer would often remind me not to buy refills if I don’t want to lose our clients.
Now at work, luckily we are into HP Laserjet still for both black & white and colored printers. We highly prefer original cartridges because it has proven longer usability and no problem was ever encountered through its use. Sometimes a discount is never really a discount at all as the quality also constitutes with the quantity.
So, does this call for another toast? Yipeee! Hats off to techxplore as the new System Administrator of AIT. Hoping you'll enjoy the challenges of your new assignment. =D Programming languages aren't that exciting to look at for me, specially Linux and Oracle. Argh! what do I know about it. But if you'll ask me to document your first day in your new workspace, then I'd be most willing to become your paparazzi 24/7.
Oh, I really like joy ride.. going from one place to another, but there is a problem when driving around the city. Parking space! Yes, a parking is one of those time consuming and head spinning task. Just by going up the winding car parking area causes me sometimes some headache. There are open spaces beside the buildings, but I don’t want to go back to a car that’s cannibalized. Imagine enjoying shopping, watching a movie and when you’re back to the car there’s no more wheels. What a heart breaking situation.
Anyway parking should be done with caution especially in open spaces or darklit spots. It’s better to wait for a parking cue than experience the worst.

Or I’d better call it bilog-bilog instead, to justify its circular appearance. I forgot bitso-bitso is supposed to have a number 8 shape, right? Well there goes my experiment again.
Name: Bitso-bitso (an ilonggo delicacy)
Category: Dessert
Ingredients:
Ignorance of the law excuse no one. Hence, not all people know the law. That is why it is the responsibility of the people who know, specially the bloggers, to disseminate information that are beneficial to everybody.
I’ll take for example online car insurance. Have you ever thought of buying auto insurance online but uncertain about it? Here are some list of the benefits of insuring your car online.
1. It can save you money by comparing quotes from several companies online without being pressured by any sales personnel.
2. It saves your traveling time with the same result you get from asking quotation to several offices.
3. It is faster and easier to do online transactions at the comfort of your home.
4. It is safe and reliable once you came to deal with rated A companies that had passed the standards of auto insurance online.
Why wait any longer? Act now before it’s too late.
